While the cookies baked (and yes, there were enough chocolate chips AND dough left to put on the tray), a round of soccer-ish activities occurred outside in their enormous yard. New house = equals no fences, no trees, no nothing…basically a perfect soccer field!)
Some crying occurred when 1. I asked the two year old to stop her dreams of being the next women’s Olympic soccer star for Canada for just a FEW minutes to take ONE photo with her brother on the porch…she was having none of that (although she WAS willing to have a cuddle-fest with mom in the grass) and 2. when the very cooperative brother DID let me take his photo on the porch but then hurt himself when getting off the chair (some quiet time and hugs with dad fixed EVERYTHING).
This was a fun session, and I loved that we planned activities around what this family loves to do. Simple fun, not requiring too much styling or ANY location scouting. It is so easy to get your children (and spouses!) to buy into the idea of a photo shoot when it means just having some good times together. If a more traditional session is not in your families wheelhouse, then consider a playtime or lifestyle session. I know that as a mom, I have many photos of my kids from over the years, but my MOST favourites are this style of photo. Their interests, personalities and relationships just SING in this types of photos. If I can help you plan out the perfect lifestyle session, I would be happy to be of service to you (plus I am nosey and LOVE learning what people love to do with their family). And these are NOT limited to little kids, by the way…kids of any age will love this type of session.
